Meet the Founder – Nikila Peddi
A passion for textiles, rooted in heritage and shaped by a vision for the future.
I’m Nikila Peddi, Founder and Designer of Vastramss, a handloom saree label born out of my deep-rooted connection with textiles and a desire to celebrate India’s rich weaving traditions.
My journey with textiles began long before Vastramss came into existence. Growing up in Jangaon, Telangana, I witnessed my family’s longstanding association with silk yarn processing. My grandfather established a yarn processing unit in the 1970s, which my father continued to nurture. Watching Ikat weavers visit our family business to source silk yarn gave me an early glimpse into the intricate world of handloom weaving and the skilled hands behind every creation.
After spending six years in the IT industry, I chose to follow my passion for textiles and build something of my own. In 2019, Vastramss was born from a simple yet meaningful vision — to bring India's diverse textile traditions to a wider audience while preserving the artistry and heritage behind them.
Curiosity and the desire to keep learning have always been an integral part of who I am. I believe that no matter what field we belong to, there is always something new to discover, understand, and explore. This outlook continues to shape my journey with Vastramss. My quest to learn about different weaves, traditional weaving techniques, the origins of crafts, and the histories behind them helps me look beyond the surface of a saree. It allows me to understand its roots, appreciate its authenticity, and thoughtfully curate weaves that hold genuine value for our clients.
At Vastramss, I bring together my love for distinctive crafts along with handloom traditions from across India. My design philosophy revolves around exploring unique colour combinations, experimenting with craft fusions, and reimagining traditional textiles in ways that feel relevant, versatile, and timeless.
For me, every saree is more than a garment. It represents generations of knowledge, the dedication of skilled artisans, and the cultural stories woven into our textiles. I believe in celebrating these traditions while creating designs that resonate with the women of today.
Receiving a state-level award from the National Handloom Development Corporation in Telangana Pochampally Ikat has been a meaningful milestone in this journey.
Vastramss is my way of carrying forward a family legacy while creating a vision of my own — preserving the beauty of Indian handlooms, celebrating the people behind them, and ensuring that these timeless traditions continue to inspire generations to come.
